It has from day one been an exciting program and I am blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of it. I think the Library and IT staff should have many kudos sent their way for organizing this. This was a large program and they executed it flawlessly.

I had a great time and would do it again, as I feel that some areas I should have delved deeper, and would like to visit again. Knowing what I know now, I would have suggested that users take an hour each week to get familiar with the weekly assignment. I promised myself I would complete this program, and I did and I am happier for it. I was only able to do it at home late at night as trying to work on this during work hours was not successful. If you have it again, I would love to sign up. Also, if you could have an organized hour maybe once a semester or during a professional workshop would also be great so we can meet and discuss the topics at hand.

Wonderful program, I belives it also bridges the gaps in knowlege from student to teacher. For our students this is media that they grew up with. But for us, we need to know about it and help them make the right decisions using this technology.

Nearing the end of this amazing journey. I have tried e-book but could not get warmed up to them. Mostly because you need a “strong voice” to protray the characters and bring life to the book. I would rather read to myself then hear someone elses voice. Unless they are a trained actor, I would rather purchase the book myself.

I took the link from the MCHS page and clicked on Gale, it asked me to enter my Library id code, since I don’t have one, I could not continue this path of exporlation.

I then choose to look at LibriVox, it has a collection of books in the public domain, I decided to download the first chapter of Sea Wolf by Jack London. It toll a few minutes to download the 1st chapter. As the narator was saying the copyright information, he lost me. He has a monatone voice that had no flucuations and when he got to the first few lines of the first chapter, I had clicked off. I would rather buy the book. I have a borders coupon, maybe I will stop by there this weekend.

I have seen a view view a video podcast regarding software and have a friend who creates a poscast nearly weekly on bad horror films. I have downloaded them to my ipod but always chicken out at the last min, as the video size is really big.

I visited podcast ally and it does have a pretty good selection of podcast to choose from. I looked up a well known podcast in its directly and it wanted to me download a 3nd party program. I did not feel comfortable with that, I will stick to Itunes just as a security and comfortability reasons.

I have been visting you tube for years. I clicked of the Norwegian video Introducing the book, via the MCHS link. It was hysterical. It is a great premise for any comedy bit. There are various versions of the video, I do prefer the English subtitle one, however you do not see need see the subtitles to get the joke.

I think for every 1 good video on you tube there is about 20 that are cheap imitations. With that said, you tube in itself is a great platform for independent filmmakers. It will be interesting to see how youtube will evolve over the next 5 years. Would the majority of videos be of one category? Would it be a great vehicle for poltical purposes? We will have to wait and see.

Ok, it took me a few minutes to get the hang of it. I create an account, then add in my books. Sometime it would not take but I figured out what I did wrong. You enter a book title or isbn number, anything that will describe the book. You click on search and amazon will pop up with various book titles like the one you entered. Then you need to select the book that matches yours, then it will show up in your library.

My mistake was that I did not select a book, so it would not show up in my library. I guess I’m getting tired. But I figured it out- that’s all that matters. I can see this helpful for others you really like books, as I have a friend who always keeps a list of books in her purse, and if she ventures into a book store she can rely on this list if she is missing a book out of her collection.

Tonight I explored google docs, and created a survey which I sent to myself via another email, then checked the results. Very cool. I could see the responses via a pie chart or an excel spreadsheet. I did find that I could not see a spell checker on the quiz. If you have created an email via constant contact, the survey looks very similar where you create a block if data, copy, move and paste it. You can go back select the block and edit that block too.

Growing up in a family of photographers I would always here the saying:

“If Its created, its copyrighted’

Even though they may not register with the copyright office, you should always keep that saying in your mind. Their have been great articles in Photoshop User on just this subject. So, I was naturally intrigued by the assignment.

I took media law course in college, let’s just say that was a few years so. Let;s just say it was only one book that I needed to purchase. I’m sure today the topic would cover volumes. I’ve always found copyright and the law, behind imagery very interesting. If you have an idea, how do you protect it. I have heard many stories that someone had an idea-but someone else took credit and reaped the rewards.

When I viewed the view from common craft, I can understand why they wanted to use Disney cartoon charactersfor the video, but the short editing snippets became hard to watch, after the first minute. heard “unofficaly” from instructors that if you take a piece of artwork and you change it enough so it is unrecongizable, it is your work. I disagree. If you want to create an original work, then do so. If there is time and budget constraints there are plenty of sites, istockphoto.com, for example you can purchase roality free work, then change it to your needs- it is still your work.

I looked at a few related sites, but I found the Horizon report the most intesting. You get to see what the trends are, but then I would ask, “Who is creating these technologies?, What resources- hardware and software are they using?” How do we as MCHS, maintain our relationship with these new waves of technology?

I just looked into Technorati, and registered my blog, it will take an hour- give or take to register my url.

I went to the site and typed in “moreau catholic” to find blogs and found a few from our fellow 23 things explorers. Now, I am adding my url to the mix. I am trying to get into the habit of adding tags to my blog too, there is a lot to this web 2.0 to remember. Only with practice using the tools, can I add to the blog, add tags, linkts etc without thinking twice about it.

Its only a few minutes since I claimed my site, and I guess it is confirmed. my rank is : 3,182,181. Wow, that is depressing, I guess there is only one way but up from here.

I think I will try some pings, and widgets and see where that leads me.

The widget fuction is not working on the site, and I sent a ping, so I guess the site will update everytime I update my blog.
